Job Title: ASL Teacher

Full time (Contract)
 

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement comprehensive ASL lesson plans based on curriculum guidelines and student needs.
• Teach ASL using various teaching methods, visual aids, and interactive activities to enhance learning.
• Assess students' progress regularly through assignments, tests, and participation evaluations.
• Provide individualized support and guidance to address students' unique learning styles and needs.
• Foster an inclusive and respectful classroom environment that values deaf culture and encourages ASL as the primary means of communication.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate ASL into the broader educational program.
• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding students' progress, challenges, and achievements.
• Stay updated with advancements in ASL education and resources to enhance teaching effectiveness.
• Maintain DESE certification and comply with all state education requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, ASL, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong knowledge of deaf culture.
• Teaching experience in ASL at various levels, preferably in an educational setting.
• DESE certification or eligibility for certification in ASL education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with assistive technology used in ASL instruction.
