We are currently seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to join a dynamic school in Kentucky.

Position Overview: The Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher will be responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with hearing impairments, ensuring they have equal access to the curriculum and educational opportunities. This role requires a compassionate educator who can adapt teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student, foster an inclusive classroom environment, and collaborate with other educational professionals. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by students with hearing impairments.

Job Description: As a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments. You will work closely with students, families, and other educators to create an inclusive and effective learning environment. Your expertise will help ensure that each student reaches their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in both inclusive and self-contained settings.
  • Utilize a variety of communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL), oral, and written communication.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff to modify curriculum and instructional strategies.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction as needed to meet educational goals.
  • Advocate for the needs of students with hearing impairments and provide guidance to families and school staff.
  • Stay current with best practices and developments in the field of deaf education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field.
  • Valid Kentucky teaching certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Experience working with students with hearing impairments in a school setting.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
