Title: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

A school in Evanston is seeking a qualified professional for the summer!

A deaf and hard of hearing teacher is responsible for teaching students that are hearing impaired and creating a support system for those students. Your duties in this career include working in either a school for the deaf or a deaf education classroom within a public school, planning instructions and lessons for general education, recording student progress, and evaluating changes needed for individuals.

Position: 

• Location: Evanston, IL 
• Dates: 6/7 & 6/8 - Orientation; 6/9 - 6/30 
• Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:45am - 3:00pm
• This position will include case management for 5 students 
• Students ages range from 18-22 years
• Various disabilities 
• You'll have three signing aides available during your assignment
• Interpret hearing/audiological medical reports as they relate to educational environments. Consult with diagnosticians, classroom teachers, students, and parents concerning appropriate evaluations, modification, and test administration. 
• Conduct special education evaluations and reevaluations. 
• Write and implement individual student goals and objectives and evaluate student performance according to the goals and objectives on Individual Educational Plan (IEP). 
• Provide direction, supervision, and evaluative feedback of paraprofessionals as directed. 
• Maintain required student records and complete all district and state reporting requirements. 

Requirements: 

• Must have Professional Educator License 
• Must have Deaf and Hard of Hearing endorsement
