Position: Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHHT)

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Hillsboro, MO!

Position Overview: As a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students with hearing impairments receive a high-quality education tailored to their unique needs. You will work collaboratively with students, parents, and educational teams to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), provide specialized instruction, and create a supportive learning environment that fosters growth and success.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess students' strengths and needs to develop personalized learning goals
  • Plan, deliver, and adapt instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Provide direct instruction in various subjects, focusing on language development, communication skills, and academic achievement
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and other professionals to support students' overall development
  • Monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies to ensure continuous improvement
  • Maintain accurate records, including IEP documentation and progress reports
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement and active participation
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related field
  • Missouri teaching certification in Deaf Education or eligibility for certification
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Strong knowledge of sign language (ASL) and communication strategies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Dedication to promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment
