Procare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHHT) to join our team for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year in Hillsboro, MO. As a DHHT, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized educational support to students who are deaf and hard of hearing, ensuring they have the necessary tools to succeed academically and personally.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and technologies to facilitate effective communication and learning for students with hearing challenges.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and other professionals to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Provide direct instruction, support, and accommodations to students based on their unique needs and goals.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching methods as necessary to ensure optimal learning outcomes.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes social and emotional growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field.
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHHT) in the state of Missouri.
- Strong understanding of hearing loss and its impact on learning and development.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt teaching methods to individual student needs.
- Previous experience working with students who are deaf and hard of hearing preferred.
