We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to join our team in Jonesboro, GA. As a teacher specialized in serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing, you will play a crucial role in providing inclusive educational opportunities and support. This is an itinerant position, allowing you to work with students across different educational settings. The position is for the upcoming 23/24 school year.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on students' unique needs and goals.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials and instructional strategies to meet students' diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure students' access to educational materials and resources.
  • Utilize assistive technology and communication devices effectively to support students' learning and communication needs.
  • Conduct assessments to monitor student progress, identify areas for growth, and develop appropriate interventions.
  • Provide consultation and support to school staff regarding strategies and accommodations for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Advocate for students' needs and ensure their inclusion in all aspects of the educational environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf Education or eligibility for certification in Georgia.
  • Experience working as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and accommodations for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and communication devices used by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
