Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Los Angeles, CA
We are currently seeking a qualified and passionate Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher for the upcoming 2023-24 school year in Walnut Park, CA. As a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing education and support to students with hearing impairments, helping them achieve their academic goals and fostering their overall development.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments, in collaboration with the school team and parents/guardians.
- Utilize various instructional strategies and methodologies to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials to ensure accessibility and inclusivity.
- Provide direct instruction in the areas of language development, literacy, communication skills, and auditory training.
- Incorporate assistive technology and resources to enhance learning experiences.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to promote an inclusive learning environment.
- Assess and monitor students' progress, provide regular feedback, and adjust instructional strategies as necessary.
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom climate that encourages student engagement, participation, and independence.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress and IEP goals.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, school staff, and other stakeholders regarding student performance and progress.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related field.
- Valid state certification as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (or eligibility to obtain certification).
- Knowledge of specialized instructional strategies and techniques for students with hearing impairments.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and resources for hearing-impaired students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including students, parents/guardians, and school staff.
- Experience working with students with hearing impairments is preferred.
