Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Los Angeles, CA

We are currently seeking a qualified and passionate Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher for the upcoming 2023-24 school year in Walnut Park, CA. As a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing education and support to students with hearing impairments, helping them achieve their academic goals and fostering their overall development.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments, in collaboration with the school team and parents/guardians.
• Utilize various instructional strategies and methodologies to meet the unique needs of each student.
• Adapt and modify curriculum materials to ensure accessibility and inclusivity.
• Provide direct instruction in the areas of language development, literacy, communication skills, and auditory training.
• Incorporate assistive technology and resources to enhance learning experiences.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to promote an inclusive learning environment.
• Assess and monitor students' progress, provide regular feedback, and adjust instructional strategies as necessary.
• Foster a positive and supportive classroom climate that encourages student engagement, participation, and independence.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress and IEP goals.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, school staff, and other stakeholders regarding student performance and progress.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related field.
• Valid state certification as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (or eligibility to obtain certification).
• Knowledge of specialized instructional strategies and techniques for students with hearing impairments.
• Familiarity with assistive technology and resources for hearing-impaired students.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including students, parents/guardians, and school staff.
• Experience working with students with hearing impairments is preferred.
