Job Title: Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher

Location: Highland, NY

Soliant, a leading healthcare staffing company, is actively seeking a dedicated and qualified Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to join our team in Highland, NY. As a DHH Teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized education and support to students with hearing impairments.

Job Description:

As a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing direct instruction to students with hearing impairments in various academic subjects.
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers and support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Utilizing assistive technology and instructional materials to enhance the learning experience.
  • Offering support for the development of language and communication skills.
  • Conducting assessments to monitor student progress and adjusting teaching strategies accordingly.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related field.

Certifications:

  • New York State Teaching Certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Experience working with elementary-age students.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of educational strategies and accommodations for students with hearing impairments.

Position Details:

  • Short-Term Contract: This is a short-term contract position available from March 4, 2024, through June 26, 2024, providing an excellent opportunity for professionals seeking a temporary assignment.

  • Itinerant Position: The DHH Teacher will work as an itinerant teacher, serving students in multiple locations as needed.

  • Full-Time Hours: The position requires full-time commitment with working hours from 8 am to 2:40 pm, allowing for a structured and consistent schedule.

  • Caseload: The majority of the caseload will be at the elementary level, providing an opportunity to make a significant impact on the foundational education of young learners.
