Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Part Time - Fort Worth, TX
A school district in the Dallas/Fort Worth area is in need of a part time Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) teacher. As a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher, you will be responsible for providing specialized educational services to students who are in need of support within the deaf and hard of hearing community. You will work with students to develop communication skills, facilitate language development, and provide support in accessing the curriculum.
Job Details:
- K-12th grade caseload
- 20-25hrs/week (District is flexible on the days worked)
- Familiarity or fluency in ASL or SEE will be given highest consideration
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a variety of settings (e.g., individual, small group, whole group)
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students in collaboration with other members of the educational team
- Provide support to general education teachers in modifying curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Conduct assessments to determine student needs and progress
- Provide support in the use of assistive technology and other accommodations
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other professionals to promote student success
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or related field
- State certification in Deaf Education or ability to obtain certification
- Experience working with students
- Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL) and other modes of communication used within the deaf community
- Knowledge of assistive technology and other accommodations for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals
