Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher

ProCare Therapy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to join our team for the 2023-24 school year in Burien, Washington. This contracted position offers a competitive pay rate of $30-35 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, utilizing appropriate teaching strategies, materials, and resources.
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that address the unique needs and abilities of each student.
• Collaborate with school staff, parents/guardians, and related service providers to support student success and promote a positive learning environment.
• Utilize assistive technology and other communication tools to enhance student engagement and participation.
• Monitor student progress, assess learning outcomes, and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, attendance, and other relevant data.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Valid teaching certification in Deaf Education or eligibility to obtain certification in the state of Washington.
• Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in an educational setting.
• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiar with other communication modalities used by individuals with hearing impairments.
• Knowledge of specialized instructional methods, assistive technology, and curriculum adaptations for students with hearing impairments.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
