Deaf Education Teacher needed near McMinnville, OR
Soliant Schools is searching for an exceptional Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for a contract position near McMinnville, Oregon. The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist provides assessment, consultation, technical assistance, and/or direct instruction for children and student who are deaf or hard of hearing and who are eligible for services. Remains knowledgeable of state and federal special education requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent;
- Completion of a university training program in the education for Deaf/Hard of Hearing as required by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC), and documentation of American Sign Language competency;
- Oregon Teaching License with Deaf/Hard of Hearing Endorsement;
- General education experience preferred.
- Authorization to work in the United States of America.
This teacher is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program for Exceptional Children students in the total school environment as prescribed on the IEP and meeting the duties of teaching as outlined in laws and policies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans, organizes and conducts appropriate conferences with district staff, agencies, and parents to carry out program objectives.
- Prepares and utilizes materials and equipment to effectively meet individual student learning needs.
- Provides information and recommendations to classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to maximize inclusion of students with severe disabilities in general education activities, both instructional and non-instructional.
- Develops appropriate goals and objectives for each student.
- Designs materials to supplement curriculums.
- Completes contact logs for each student on a monthly basis.
- Assists with the development and implementation of appropriate IEPs/IFSPs for eligible children and deaf/hard of hearing students.
- Participates in developing and training building staff to implement behavior management plans for individual students.
- Completes all federal and state mandated forms for each student.
- Uses appropriate curriculums to facilitate student learning.
- Uses appropriate testing materials to evaluate students' hearing loss levels and goal progress.
- Facilitates hearing aid, FM system and other assistive listening device use, maintenance, repair and replacement.
- Teaches students in one-on-one situations.
- Manages cases, i.e., organizes IEP meetings; writes IEPs and leads IEP meetings; for IEP students.
- Coordinates with audiologists for audiological support.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Details:
- 37.5 hours per week, Monday- Friday
- Caseload: K-12 itinerant
- Bell schedule is determined by school district
