Deaf /Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHHT) Needed through the 23/24SY - Beaufort, SC

Blazerworks has partnered with a school district in Beaufort, SC to assist in hiring for a full time Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher. The successful candidate will work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing and will provide specialized instruction and support to help them achieve their academic goals.

Responsibilities:

• Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Providing specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a variety of academic subjects
• Utilizing assistive technology and other communication strategies to facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their teachers, peers, and families
• Collaborating with general education teachers, related service providers, and parents to ensure that students who are deaf or hard of hearing are included in the general education curriculum to the greatest extent possible
• Maintaining accurate records of student progress and communicating with families and team members regarding student progress
• Participating in IEP meetings and providing input into the development of IEP goals

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education or a related field
• Current state certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing or ability to obtain certification in the state of South Carolina
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) or proficiency in a signed language
• Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting is preferred
• Knowledge of best practices in Deaf Education and the ability to apply them in a classroom setting
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
