Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teacher Job - Jupiter, FL
Join our team as a skilled Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing! We are seeking candidates for an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the education and lives of students with hearing impairments in the Jupiter, Florida area.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
- Provide direct instruction in various subjects, adapting curriculum materials to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technologies, and communication modes to facilitate learning and access to information for students in a self-contained deaf education setting.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive educational experience for students who are served in mainstream and inclusive classrooms
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and collaborate on effective strategies for home and school support.
- Monitor and assist in maintaining assistive technological devices, including FM systems, hearing aides, Cochlear implants
- Stay updated on best practices and advancements in the field of deaf education.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Florida teaching certification in Deaf Education.
- Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing - new graduates with certification are being considered for these roles.
- American Sign Language (ASL) communication needed for self-contained settings, while auditory-verbal, and total communication approaches are used for students pushing into mainstream classrooms.
