Position Summary:
As a Deaf, Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher, you will play a vital role in the education and development of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. You will be responsible for designing and implementing specialized instructional strategies and techniques to meet the unique needs of these students. Your expertise in sign language, communication methods, and assistive technologies will empower students to achieve academic success, enhance their language and communication skills, and promote their overall social and emotional well-being.

Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Development:
   - Develop and adapt curriculum materials and resources to meet the individualized needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
   - Create lesson plans that align with educational standards and promote language development, literacy, and content knowledge.

2. Instruction and Classroom Management:
   - Employ a variety of instructional techniques, including visual aids, sign language, assistive technologies, and differentiated instruction, to engage and support student learning.
   - Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes collaboration, respect, and effective communication among students.
   - Use appropriate behavior management strategies to address individual student needs and maintain a productive learning environment.

3. Assessment and Individualized Education Planning:
   - Administer assessments to evaluate students' academic progress, language development, and social-emotional growth.
   - Collaborate with other educators and specialists to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that address students' specific needs and goals.
   - Regularly monitor and document student progress, providing feedback to students, parents, and relevant stakeholders.

4. Communication and Collaboration:
   - Communicate effectively with students, using appropriate sign language and other communication methods to facilitate understanding and engagement.
   - Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive educational experience for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
   - Attend and actively participate in meetings, professional development opportunities, and relevant workshops to stay updated on best practices in the field.

5. Assistive Technology and Resources:
   - Utilize and integrate assistive technologies, such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, amplification systems, and visual aids, into instructional practices.
   - Maintain knowledge of available resources, materials, and technological advancements that support the education and inclusion of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification or licensure in Deaf Education or Special Education.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other sign languages used by students in the educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of Deaf culture, communication strategies, and assistive technologies for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in an educational setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities to effectively plan and implement instructional strategies.
