ProCare Therapy is seeking a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher in the Falmouth, ME area. As a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized education and support to students with hearing impairments. Responsibilities:

  • 09/05/2023 - 06/13/2024,
  • 35 - 40 hours, full-time
  • K - 12th grade students in the caseload
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
  • Deliver instruction in various subjects, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Teach and reinforce communication skills, including sign language, lip reading, and spoken language development.
  • Collaborate with other educators, parents, and support staff to ensure a coordinated approach to student education and support.
  • Assess and monitor students' progress, providing feedback and implementing strategies to address learning gaps.
  • Stay updated on advancements in deaf education, assistive technologies, and instructional strategies through professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Education for Teaching Deaf Students
  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf Education
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with other communication modes used by deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of diverse instructional strategies and accommodations for students with hearing impairments.
