Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Centereach, NY
An opportunity is available for an experienced elementary teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education. This position is a contract role for the Extended School Year program, running from ASAP through August 15th. The role is located in an elementary school setting and offers flexibility in scheduling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt lessons to meet diverse learner needs.
- Collaborate with support staff to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Monitor student progress and provide regular updates to the education team.
Qualifications:
- Certification in teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Experience working with elementary-aged children in a similar capacity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage flexible scheduling.
Details:
- Approximately 5 hours per week with 10 owed hours to be completed within the contract period.
- Flexibility to choose the days to work each week.
- Owed hours can be made up at any time within the contract timeframe.
