An opportunity is available for a dedicated professional skilled in teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing within a K-12 educational setting. This contract position offers the chance to support students’ educational growth and accessibility in a vibrant learning environment located in Tacoma, WA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt materials and strategies.
  • Assess student progress and develop individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Utilize assistive technology and communication systems to enhance learning.
  • Provide guidance and support to families regarding educational resources and strategies.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and development.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification and experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or equivalent.
  • Deep understanding of communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL) and speech therapy techniques.
  • Experience working within a K-12 school environment.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective individualized instruction plans.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and best practices in Deaf education.

Location: Tacoma, WA
Duration: Contract position for the current school year (CSY)
