Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Juneau, Alaska

Key Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state requirements apply)
- Proven experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong knowledge of assistive listening devices, auditory training, and current intervention methodologies
- Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and documentation procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for varied audiences, including students, families, and colleagues
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies and materials for diverse learning styles
- Passion for fostering inclusive, empowering classroom environments
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, from early intervention through high school age (as assigned)
- Develop, implement, and monitor student IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Work closely with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and strategies, ensuring access and equity in all learning environments
- Support families through education and resources that promote student success
- Employ technology, visual resources, and sign language as needed to facilitate communication and engagement
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing progress reviews
