Position: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Location: Near Southglenn, Colorado
Job Description: We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to join our dynamic team of educators. As a DHH teacher, you will play a vital role in providing specialized instruction and support services to students with hearing impairments, fostering their academic and personal growth.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans for DHH students to meet their unique learning needs and goals.
- Conduct thorough assessments to identify students' strengths, challenges, and appropriate interventions.
- Provide direct instruction in various subjects, including language development, communication skills, literacy, mathematics, and other core areas.
- Utilize appropriate assistive technologies and adaptive tools to enhance students' learning experiences.
- Collaborate with other teachers, educational specialists, and parents to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor and track students' progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to ensure academic success.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education with a focus on Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or related fields.
- Valid teaching certification or licensure in Deaf Education or Special Education
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with other communication modes used in the Deaf community.
- Experience working with DHH students in an educational setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated patience, creativity, and flexibility in meeting the diverse needs of DHH learners.
