Blazerworks, in partnership with a school district in Anderson IN, is seeking a dedicated and qualified Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with hearing impairments, providing them with the necessary education and support they need to succeed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
- Create and deliver engaging and effective lessons that cater to the unique needs of each student.
- Utilize various teaching strategies, methods, and resources to facilitate learning and language development.
- Provide direct instruction, support, and accommodations to students in both general education and specialized settings.
- Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and parents to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive educational experience.
- Assess and track student progress, adjusting instruction as needed to meet individual goals.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social interaction and self-advocacy skills.
- Stay updated with the latest research, technologies, and best practices in deaf education.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf Education.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of various communication modes used by individuals with hearing impairments.
- Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Patience, flexibility, and a passion for empowering students with hearing impairments.
