Soliant Education is seeking a qualified Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to join our team in the Mountain View, CA area! This full-time, on-site position for the 2024-2025 school year offers the rewarding opportunity to provide specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments across the entire K-12 spectrum.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs and learning goals, considering their specific hearing loss and developmental stage (elementary, middle, or high school).
- Utilize a variety of communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL), auditory-verbal approaches, and assistive technology, to effectively teach and communicate with students.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and self-advocacy skills, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience for students at all grade levels (K-12).
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, administrators, and parents to create a comprehensive support system and inclusive learning environment for students with hearing impairments.
- Assess students' educational needs and progress, monitoring their development and adapting instructional strategies as needed.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of students with hearing impairments, promoting awareness and understanding throughout the school community.
- Stay up-to-date on best practices in deaf education and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- California State Teaching Credential in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education (Authorization or certification required).
- Prior experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students in a school setting, preferably across a K-12 caseload, is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of other communication methods used by students with hearing impairments.
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, deafness, and educational audiology.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students of all ages, parents, and school staff.
- Ability to create engaging and accessible learning environments that cater to diverse learning styles.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for students with disabilities.
