One of Soliant's partners, located 30 minutes from Frederick, MD, is interviewing applicants for a position as a Teacher of Deaf and Hard of hearing students. 

As a historic town that also hosts several biomedical research and manufacturing companies, Frederick is economically oriented to the future, while maintaining a cityscape with undeniable ties to the past. Within driving distance of the state borders of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, weekend roadtrip opportunities abound for anyone based in this town.

The applicant will be covering several school buildings, working with students from preschool to high school. 

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing direct instruction and/or consultative services to students;
  2. Evaluating and assessing students' academic and communication needs.
  3. Working in conjunction with the audiologist, train students and teachers on individual and/ or classroom amplification systems.
  4. Collaborating and consulting with team members to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that will meet student's needs.
  5. Adapting or modifying learning objectives as they are defined by the Common Core State Standards, and teaching to achieve said outcomes.
  6. Training students and staff members in the use of assistive technology devices related to hearing impairments.
  7. Consult with the audiologists on student’s hearing loss and use of appropriate amplification.
  8. Effectively communicate with both deaf and hard of hearing students, using sign language when appropriate.
  9. Collect data to document student progress toward IEP goals
  10. Maintain weekly instruction plans and consultation logs.

In order to work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, applicants must be certified by the Maryland Department of Education. For out-of-state applicants, Soliant offers guidance to the application process.
