Job Title: Full-Time Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist
Location: Alexandria, VA

Blazerjobs is delighted to announce a full-time opening for a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist in collaboration with the Alexandria School District. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team and provide specialized educational services to students with hearing impairments. As a DHH Specialist, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' lives by facilitating their academic and personal growth. Responsibilities:

Assess students with hearing impairments to identify their educational requirements
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student
Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments in both specialized settings and regular classrooms
Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure students' learning needs are met
Utilize appropriate assistive technology and adaptive materials to enhance students' learning experiences
Teach specialized skills such as sign language, lip-reading, and auditory training
Support students in developing communication and social skills to promote their overall well-being and integration
Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and services provided
Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
State certification as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist
Prior experience working with students with hearing impairments is preferred
Familiarity with sign language and other communication strategies for individuals with hearing impairments
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with a diverse team
Empathy, patience, and dedication to supporting students with hearing impairments
Ability to customize teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and abilities
