Are you a dedicated and passionate Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing looking for an exciting opportunity near Evanston, Illinois? Sunbelt Staffing is currently seeking a qualified professional to join our team. As a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse disabilities, including deaf and hard of hearing, intellectual impairments, Down syndrome, and autism.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse needs, including deaf and hard of hearing students.
  • Provide specialized instruction in various subjects and skill areas, tailored to meet students' individual needs and goals.
  • Utilize appropriate teaching strategies, resources, and technology to support students' learning and communication.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other specialists to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to accommodate students' unique needs and learning styles.
  • Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and make necessary instructional adjustments.
  • Foster a positive and nurturing classroom environment that promotes social and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support the overall development of students with diverse disabilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid Illinois teaching certification with a specialization in Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
  • Prior experience working with students who are deaf and hard of hearing, as well as students with intellectual impairments, Down syndrome, and autism.
  • Knowledge of specialized instructional strategies and communication methods used with students who are deaf and hard of hearing.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive devices for students with hearing impairments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with diverse needs.
