Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Needed In Mt Pleasant, New Jersey Area!

SoIiant is currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to join our team near Mt Pleasant, NJ. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the education and lives of students with hearing impairments in a supportive and inclusive educational environment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments
• Provide direct instruction in various subjects, adapting curriculum materials to meet the unique needs of each student
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technologies, and communication modes to facilitate learning and access to information
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive educational experience for students
• Assess and monitor student progress, and make necessary instructional adjustments to support their academic growth
• Provide support and guidance to students in developing self-advocacy skills and fostering independence
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and collaborate on effective strategies for home and school support
• Stay updated on best practices and advancements in the field of deaf education

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
• Valid state teaching certification in Deaf Education or Special Education with a specialization in Deaf Education
• Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing (school-based experience preferred)
• Knowledge of various communication modalities, including American Sign Language (ASL), auditory-verbal, and total communication approaches
• Familiarity with assistive technologies and amplification systems used by students with hearing impairments
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
