Title: American Sign Language Teacher

Job Description: We are currently looking for a passionate and experienced American Sign Language (ASL) Teacher to join our educational institution. As an ASL Teacher, you will be responsible for instructing students in ASL language skills, promoting understanding of Deaf culture, and facilitating effective communication between deaf and hearing individuals.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans to teach ASL to students of varying skill levels, including beginners and advanced learners.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and growth.
- Introduce students to Deaf culture, history, and social nuances to promote cultural understanding and sensitivity.
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and materials, such as visual aids, videos, and interactive activities, to enhance the learning experience.
- Assess student progress through regular evaluations, tests, and assignments, providing constructive feedback to promote improvement.
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching strategies and stay up-to-date with ASL language advancements.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and overall performance.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to address concerns, provide updates, and ensure a supportive learning environment.
Requirements:
- DESE Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Massachusetts Teacher Certificate
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and the unique needs of the Deaf and hard of hearing community.
