Position: Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (potentially up to 40 hours)
Grade Levels: K-12
Caseload: 24 students
Location: District Office, Itinerant

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students to join our team. This full-time position serves a K-12 caseload of 24 students in an itinerant capacity, with a home base at the district office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction to DHH students across various grade levels (K-12).
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to support student learning and development.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluate student progress.
  • Utilize appropriate communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL) and other assistive technologies.
  • Travel between schools within the district to provide services to students in their respective locations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided and student progress.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related field.
  • State certification or licensure as a Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the educational needs and accommodations for DHH students.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload effectively.
