School-Based Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist - Forest Lake, MN

Position Overview:
Soliant and its affiliates are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist to join our team for the 2024/2025 school year in Forest Lake, MN. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students who are deaf or hard of hearing by providing them with the necessary support and services to succeed academically and socially.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to determine students' educational and communication needs.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing loss.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in areas such as language development, communication skills, and assistive technology use.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure that students' needs are met in both mainstream and specialized settings.
- Monitor students' progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Provide consultation and training to school staff and parents on best practices for supporting students with hearing loss.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Audiology, or a related field.
- Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TODHH) or Audiologist in the state of Minnesota.
- At least one year of recent experience working as a DHH Specialist in a school-based setting.
- Knowledge of sign language and other communication modalities used by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and other tools to support students with hearing loss.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
