Compensation Packages
Local Candidates (Hourly Pay): $49-$56
Travel Candidates (Weekly Take-Home Pay): $1700-$1978

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher Job Duties

Provide specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in individual and group settings

Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet students’ communication needs

Support the use of assistive technology, amplification devices, and visual communication strategies

Collaborate with teachers, interpreters, administrators, and families to support student success
-
Monitor and document student progress toward educational goals

Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions

Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations
Federal and State Requirements
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field from an accredited program
-
Current Maryland state certification/licensure as a DHH Teacher (or eligibility)
-
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred

Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and other applicable education laws

Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Fingerprinting and background clearance as required by Maryland school districts
