Virtual Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist – Supporting Students in Athens, GA

About VocoVision:
VocoVision is seeking a skilled and passionate Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist to support K-12 students in Athens, Georgia. This role allows you to work remotely, providing critical services and support to students with hearing impairments, ensuring they thrive academically and socially through virtual instruction and specialized communication strategies.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Provide virtual instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students using American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication techniques.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on each student’s unique needs and learning goals.
- Collaborate with parents, general education teachers, and school teams to track student progress and modify strategies as needed.
- Participate in IEP meetings to ensure that students receive appropriate services and accommodations.
- Offer guidance and strategies to general education teachers on how to best integrate Deaf and Hard of Hearing students into their classrooms.
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with Georgia’s special education guidelines.
What You Need:
- Valid Georgia certification for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education with a focus on Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
- At least two years of experience in a school-based setting (teletherapy experience preferred).
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience with assistive technology for DHH students.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working in a remote environment.
- Reliable internet connection and a professional, quiet workspace.
