A high school classroom is seeking a dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to lead instruction in a self-contained setting designed to support students with hearing impairments and additional learning needs. This contract position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by delivering specialized education tailored to the unique requirements of high school students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs) that address each student’s specific communication and academic needs.
  • Deliver instruction in core subjects using accessible formats, differentiated strategies, and visual supports to enhance understanding.
  • Utilize American Sign Language (ASL) and other relevant communication methods to facilitate full engagement and interaction within the classroom.
  • Collaborate with support staff, families, and related service providers to ensure a cohesive educational experience.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Illinois certification as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher is required.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated ability to use ASL effectively in educational settings.
  • Experience working within self-contained classrooms addressing diverse student needs.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional strategies tailored for students with hearing impairments and multiple learning needs.

Location: Aurora, Illinois (High School Setting)
