Schedule: Full-Time, School Year Contract
Compensation: Starting at $42 an Hour

Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to serve students in Chattanooga schools. In this role, you’ll provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing impairments, ensuring they have equal access to communication, curriculum, and social interaction. This is a chance to make a lasting impact on students’ educational journeys while working in collaboration with a supportive school community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction tailored to the individual needs of students with hearing loss

• Support the development of communication skills, literacy, and language acquisition

• Collaborate with general and special education teachers to adapt curriculum and instruction

• Consult with parents, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and other team members

• Assist in selecting and utilizing assistive technology (hearing aids, FM systems, captioning, etc.)

• Contribute to and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

• Advocate for students’ needs to ensure equitable access to education

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field

• Valid Tennessee teaching certification with endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility upon hire)

• Experience working with students with hearing impairments (preferred)

• Strong knowledge of communication modalities (ASL, cued speech, spoken language, etc.)

• Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and school staff

• Must pass background and fingerprinting checks
