As a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, you’ll work closely with students in need of specialized instruction and communication support. This includes assessing needs, developing and implementing IEP goals, and integrating accommodations to help students fully engage with academic content. You’ll collaborate with families, interpreters, general education teachers, and service providers to ensure student success across settings.
To qualify in Virginia, candidates must hold a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Hearing Impairments or Deaf Education. Experience in using ASL or other communication modalities, as well as familiarity with hearing devices and related educational tools, is preferred.
