What You'll Be Doing
You'll serve as an itinerant specialist supporting 2-3 campuses across the area, working with PreK through 6th grade students. This flexible position offers 21-35 hours per week (minimum 3 days, up to 5 full days) with 7-hour daily schedules. All services are delivered on-site only—this role requires in-person campus presence for direct student support and collaboration.
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations for deaf and hard of hearing students
- Participate in ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings
- Read and interpret audiograms for educational planning
- Manage a diverse caseload of PreK-6th grade students
- Develop and implement individualized education strategies
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families
- Provide consultation on assistive technology and classroom accommodations
- Document student progress and maintain compliance records
What You'll Bring
Essential Requirements:
- Active Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teaching License through TEA (Texas Education Agency)
- Expertise in audiogram interpretation and hearing assessment analysis
- Strong knowledge of deaf education methodologies and best practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to inclusive education principles
- Full in-person availability (no remote/virtual options)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in Texas public schools
- Elementary-level (PreK-6th) teaching background
- Familiarity with ARD processes and special education compliance
- Experience with assistive hearing technology
