If you're passionate about creating accessible pathways to learning and empowering students with hearing differences, this itinerant role offers the perfect opportunity to make a meaningful impact across multiple campuses.

Why This Role Matters

Every child deserves full access to education, regardless of hearing ability. As our Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher, you'll be the essential link between students, families, and educational teams—interpreting audiograms, developing individualized strategies, and ensuring comprehensive support. Your specialized knowledge transforms educational challenges into opportunities, creating inclusive environments where every student can thrive.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll serve as an itinerant specialist supporting 2-3 campuses across the area, working with PreK through 6th grade students. This flexible position offers 21-35 hours per week (minimum 3 days, up to 5 full days) with 7-hour daily schedules. All services are delivered on-site only—this role requires in-person campus presence for direct student support and collaboration.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations for deaf and hard of hearing students
  • Participate in ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings
  • Read and interpret audiograms for educational planning
  • Manage a diverse caseload of PreK-6th grade students
  • Develop and implement individualized education strategies
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families
  • Provide consultation on assistive technology and classroom accommodations
  • Document student progress and maintain compliance records

What You'll Bring

Essential Requirements:

  • Active Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teaching License through TEA (Texas Education Agency)
  • Expertise in audiogram interpretation and hearing assessment analysis
  • Strong knowledge of deaf education methodologies and best practices
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to inclusive education principles
  • Full in-person availability (no remote/virtual options)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Texas public schools
  • Elementary-level (PreK-6th) teaching background
  • Familiarity with ARD processes and special education compliance
  • Experience with assistive hearing technology
