Teacher of the Deaf | Waterford, Michigan
An opportunity is available for a licensed Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to provide specialized educational services within a K-12 school setting. This position, based in Waterford, MI, is a leave contract requiring 35 hours per week onsite. The role focuses on delivering tailored instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring they receive equitable access to the curriculum and inclusive learning environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing individualized educational programs for students who are deaf/hard of hearing across grades K-12.
- Collaborating with general education teachers, support staff, and families to support student learning and communication development.
- Conducting assessments and monitoring student progress to adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Maintaining accurate records and complying with all district and state regulations related to special education services.
- Participating in professional development and team meetings to stay current with educational best practices.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid Michigan Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) license.
- Demonstrated professional experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Successful completion of district fingerprinting requirements.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
