Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher – Full-Time | Mount Prospect, IL | 2025–2026 School Year
A fantastic school district located in Mount Prospect, IL is seeking a full-time Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to join the team. In this role, you will provide essential support and services to students, helping to foster academic achievement and personal growth. You will collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure each student receives the appropriate care and instruction.
Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing based on IEP goals and individual needs

Collaborate with general and special education teachers, families, and support staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion
-
Adapt and modify curriculum and instructional materials for hearing-impaired students
-
Support students in developing communication skills through oral, auditory, and/or sign language approaches
-
Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation of services and accommodations
-
Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of individualized educational plans
-
Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
Qualifications:
-
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities used in deaf education

Experience working in school settings or with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge of assistive technology and accommodations for students with hearing impairments
