This position is for a specialist supporting a student who is Deaf/Blind at the kindergarten level in a middle school setting. The role requires expertise in working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and involves delivering tailored educational support aligned with the student's unique needs.

Hours: 4 hours per month, with compensatory education hours required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized educational support to a kindergarten student with Deaf/Blind disabilities.
  • Design and implement individualized strategies addressing communication and learning challenges specific to Deaf/Blind students.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to integrate services effectively.
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress and participate in meetings regarding the student’s educational plan.
  • Utilize expertise as a Teacher or Specialist for Deaf/Hard of Hearing to enhance instructional approaches and student engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf/Blind students in educational settings.
  • Familiarity with strategies and accommodations appropriate for students with combined sensory impairments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Relevant certifications or licensure appropriate to provide support in this specialized area.
