Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist - Fremont, California
An opportunity is available for a fully certified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) to provide specialized educational services to K-12 students. This role offers a full-time, onsite position in Fremont, CA, working within a supportive school environment to enhance the academic and social development of students with hearing challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional services and assessments tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and actively participate in IEP meetings
- Teach language and literacy skills adapted to individual student needs
- Modify and adapt lessons and materials to facilitate access to curriculum
- Manage and support the use of assistive listening devices
- Collaborate closely with families, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support and equal educational opportunities
Qualifications:
- Valid California TDHH Certification is required
- Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students across K-12 grade levels
- Strong knowledge of IEP development processes and assessment procedures
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team setting
Position Details:
- Location: Fremont, California
- Setting: Onsite within a K-12 school
- Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
- Contract duration: Contract for the current school year (CSY)
