About the Role:

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to provide virtual instruction and support to K–12 students throughout Alabama. This full-time remote position offers the opportunity to teach from your home while making a meaningful impact on student development and accessibility in education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver live virtual instruction to K–12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

  • Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ needs

  • Utilize engaging, accessible digital tools to enhance student learning and communication

  • Modify general education curriculum to support DHH learners effectively

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families

  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to Alabama’s educational standards and reporting requirements

  • Support students’ academic and communication skill development in a virtual setting


Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Deaf Education or a closely related field (required)

  • Valid Alabama teaching certification with Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement (required)

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (preferred)

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods commonly used in DHH education

  • Reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional home workspace

  • Experience with virtual instruction is a plus, but not mandatory
