Virtual DHH Educator - Secondary Students - Cincinnati, OH
We're seeking a dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing teacher to join our remote education team, specializing in secondary-level instruction for students with hearing impairments. This position offers the opportunity to work from home while providing critical educational services that prepare students for post-secondary success and independent living.
Role Description Work 35-37.5 hours weekly supporting approximately 40-50 students in grades 6-12 through virtual learning platforms. You'll focus on academic content delivery, transition planning, and developing communication competencies essential for teenage students with hearing loss. Our educators play a vital role in ensuring students receive appropriate accommodations while maintaining high academic standards.
Core Teaching Duties
- Design and deliver curriculum adapted for visual learners and various communication preferences
- Implement transition services focusing on post-secondary preparation and career readiness
- Provide specialized instruction in core academic subjects with DHH methodology
- Conduct functional assessments and develop appropriate behavioral interventions
- Facilitate IEP meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Support students in developing self-determination and advocacy skills
- Create and maintain accessible digital learning environments

- Content area literacy with emphasis on academic vocabulary

Essential Requirements
- Master's degree in Deaf Education or related special education field
- Current Ohio teaching license in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education
- Minimum 2 years of classroom experience with DHH students in school environments
- Demonstrated competency in multiple communication modalities
- Experience with adolescent development and secondary education practices
- Proficiency with assistive technology and communication devices

- Secondary education endorsement or dual certification
- Experience with transition services and post-secondary planning
- Knowledge of vocational rehabilitation and community resources
