Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist - North Adams, Massachusetts

A school in North Adams, MA is seeking a qualified Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) to support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This full-time, in-person position is ideal for educators with experience in specialized instruction for this unique population. Part-time candidates will also be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Deliver direct instruction using a variety of communication methods, including sign language and auditory-verbal techniques
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Participate in meetings, assessments, and ongoing professional development related to Deaf education
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf or related licensure
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a K-12 educational setting
- Strong knowledge of communication modalities, educational strategies, and assistive technologies
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Ability to work full-time on-site in North Adams, MA
