Travel Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) in Port Charlotte, FL
A full-time opportunity is available for a dedicated Hearing Impaired Teacher to provide specialized instruction for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. This travel position is based in Port Charlotte, FL, and offers a dynamic environment working full-time (40 hours per week, 8 hours daily) from the start date until May 29, 2026. The role is designed to support student learning in a multi-grade setting with collaboration among paraprofessionals and other educators.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Valid Florida teaching certification or equivalent, with certification or eligibility in Elementary Education and Exceptional Student Education (ESE).
- ESOL endorsement required.
- Communications Disorder unit and Autism Endorsement or certification are preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction for a diverse, multi-grade classroom.
- Appropriate ESOL, Gifted, and Reading hours as mandated.
- Flexibility to adhere to alternative qualifications deemed acceptable by administration.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and ensure compliance with a valid Florida Teaching Certificate and all relevant regulations.
- Prepare, maintain, and submit accurate student records and reports.
- Support and implement individualized student learning plans.
- Create and uphold a safe, orderly, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
- Follow school policies and procedures, including classroom management and instructional schedules.
- Develop detailed lesson plans and employ diverse instructional techniques and media tailored to student needs and classroom settings.
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and other staff to enhance instructional effectiveness.
