Job Description:
As a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, you will support students with hearing impairments in a school-based setting, providing both direct instruction and consultation. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing IEPs, working closely with general education teachers and support staff, and using specialized instructional strategies and communication methods, such as American Sign Language (ASL) or cued speech, to ensure student access to curriculum and meaningful participation in the classroom.
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must hold a valid Washington State teaching certificate with an endorsement in Deaf Education, along with any state-mandated clearances such as fingerprinting and background checks. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is often required or highly preferred.
