Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing – Full-Time | Tacoma, WA | 2025–2026 School Year
A fantastic school district located in Tacoma, WA is seeking a full-time Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to join the team. In this role, you will provide essential support and services to students with hearing impairments, helping to foster academic achievement and personal growth. You will collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure each student receives the appropriate care, instruction, and accommodations.
Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, based on individual needs and IEP goals
-
Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and school staff to support student academic, social, and emotional development
-
Assist in implementing behavior or educational plans as needed
-
Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation
-
Participate in IEP meetings and provide insight into student performance and needs
-
Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
-
Support students in developing communication skills, including auditory-verbal, sign language, or total communication strategies
Qualifications:
-
Valid Washington State Teacher Certification with a Special Education – Hearing Impaired endorsement
-
Experience working in school settings with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
-
Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
-
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge of educational methodologies for students with hearing impairments, including auditory-verbal, total communication, and classroom accommodations
-
Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and related compliance documentation
