Job Title: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)

Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to join our team. The DHH teacher will support students with hearing impairments in a variety of educational settings, providing specialized instruction and working collaboratively with general education staff, families, and service providers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

• Provide direct instruction to students based on their individual needs.

• Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive classroom practices.

• Adapt curriculum and materials to be accessible for students with hearing loss.

• Use assistive technology and auditory/oral, sign language, or total communication methods as appropriate.

• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.

• Communicate regularly with parents, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff.

• Advocate for the needs of DHH students within the school environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related field.

• Valid State teaching credential with a DHH authorization.

• Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities used by DHH students.

• Strong understanding of the educational and social-emotional needs of students with hearing loss.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with diverse student populations.

• Fluency in ASL.

• Familiarity with assistive hearing technology (e.g., FM systems, cochlear implants).
