Job Title: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to join our team. The DHH teacher will support students with hearing impairments in a variety of educational settings, providing specialized instruction and working collaboratively with general education staff, families, and service providers.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Provide direct instruction to students based on their individual needs.

Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive classroom practices.

Adapt curriculum and materials to be accessible for students with hearing loss.

Use assistive technology and auditory/oral, sign language, or total communication methods as appropriate.

Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.

Communicate regularly with parents, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff.

Advocate for the needs of DHH students within the school environment.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related field.

Valid State teaching credential with a DHH authorization.

Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities used by DHH students.

Strong understanding of the educational and social-emotional needs of students with hearing loss.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with diverse student populations.

Fluency in ASL.

Familiarity with assistive hearing technology (e.g., FM systems, cochlear implants).
