Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHH) in Washington, DC
This contract opportunity is for a skilled Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist to provide targeted support to a Kindergarten student with Deaf/Blind disabilities. The position is based in Washington, DC, requiring in-person presence to effectively address the unique needs of the student through specialized instruction and communication strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instructional support tailored to a Kindergarten student with Deaf/Blind disabilities
- Utilize expertise in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education to enhance the student’s communication, learning, and social skills
- Collaborate with the student’s educational team to develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress and adapt teaching methods as needed
- Attend regular meetings to discuss student growth and coordinate compensatory education hours
Qualifications:
- Certified Teacher specializing in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or equivalent expertise
- Experience working with students who have combined Deaf and Blind disabilities is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of communication techniques and assistive technologies for Deaf/Blind learners
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Commitment to delivering personalized, in-person educational support
Work Details:
- Location: Washington, DC
- Schedule: 4 hours per month, in-person
