Travel Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Washington, DC
A specialized opportunity is available for an experienced professional working with students who are Deaf/Blind, serving kindergarten-aged children in an educational setting. This role requires in-person service delivery within Washington, DC, with travel involved to meet student needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support and specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of a kindergarten student who is Deaf/Blind.
- Collaborate with educational staff and family members to develop and implement individualized strategies that enhance communication, learning, and social interaction.
- Deliver services during in-person sessions scheduled for approximately 4 hours per month.
- Manage compensatory education hours as required to meet service mandates and student progress goals.
- Utilize expertise in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education to optimize instructional approaches and adapt materials accordingly.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher with a focus on students who are Deaf/Blind.
- Strong knowledge of communication techniques and assistive technologies suited for Deaf/Blind students.
- Ability to travel as necessary within the region to fulfill in-person service commitments.
- Understanding of educational protocols and compliance for special needs populations.
Location:
- Washington, DC, with travel expected to the student’s location for in-person engagement.
