Compensation Packages:
Local Candidates: $49–$56 per hour
Travel Candidates: Weekly take-home pay ranges from $1700–$1978, equivalent to $59–$69 per hour. This package includes a lower taxable hourly rate supplemented by tax-free housing and meal stipends to maximize net income.

DHH Teacher Job Duties:
As a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, you will provide specialized instruction and support to students with varying degrees of hearing loss. Responsibilities include developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), delivering direct instruction in communication and academic areas, and adapting general education curriculum to meet student needs. You will collaborate closely with families, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and classroom teachers to ensure equitable access to learning. Additional duties involve managing assistive listening devices (hearing aids, cochlear implants, FM systems), documenting progress toward IEP goals, and maintaining compliance with IDEA and state education standards.
Requirements (Maryland State):

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or closely related field

Maryland State Department of Education certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education

ASL proficiency or strong knowledge of sign language required

Familiarity with auditory-verbal therapy and total communication approaches preferred

Prior school-based experience strongly preferred

Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills
