This opportunity is for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to serve students from Pre-K through 6th grade in an itinerant role at a K-12 school in the Dallas, TX area. The position involves supporting one campus within the school district, working with children who have hearing impairments. This contract role runs from early January through late May.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of students from Pre-K to 6th grade with deaf and hard of hearing needs
  • Conduct evaluations and complete necessary documentation related to student progress
  • Attend Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings to collaborate on individualized education plans
  • Read and interpret audiograms to inform instructional strategies
  • Provide tailored instructional support based on students' hearing profiles
  • Collaborate with school staff and families to ensure optimal educational outcomes

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teaching License through the Texas Education Agency (TEA)
  • Previous experience in a Texas school setting is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of instructional strategies for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Ability to manage caseloads and perform thorough evaluations
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Role Details:

  • Location: On-site support in Mansfield, TX
  • Schedule: Full-time or part-time, 21-35 hours per week (minimum 3 days, up to 5 days)
  • Contract duration: January 5 to May 21
  • Caseload: Pre-K through 6th grade students, itinerant position supporting one campus
